Examples of a Wrongful Death
Prescription drugs and medications have been known to cause wrongful deaths. Recently, Merck, the manufacturer of Vioxx, was found responsible for deaths related to the side effects of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) drug. Vioxx has since been taken off the market. Prescription drug wrongful death cases are a serious concern with more People taking prescriptions every day.
In the last few decades there has been an increase in the number of deaths related to mesothelioma which is often caused by exposure to asbestos. The extensive exposure to asbestos can come as a result of manufacturer negligence or a company that failed to notify their workers of the conditions. Businesses must provide adequate protection against exposure to asbestos and if they do not they are negligent in their business practice.
Another type of exposure that can be fatal is benzene. This is often exposed to human beings through fumes that come from welding rods. Most workers will wear a welding mask or something to cover their face but this must be supplied by the company they are working for. There must also be some type of education available to help explain the long term effects of the exposure to benzene.
